January has been a very exciting month, with more to follow. The biggest and most gratifying piece of news is that we have acquired the ground, formerly used by the military gamers, to the south west of our Caldecotte range, at no additional cost. We hope to bring part of it into use this year, probably as three or so additional short distance lanes. Our new web site is up and running, with lots of extra functionality and content. Critically, it now does most of the work involved in capturing Beginners, Have a Goes and Joiners. Thanks again to Hari, who also requests members to join the forum as we will publish news there as well. Reminder: you need to re-register because your old login will not work on the new website. The third major news item is that we have started the boss and stand improvement program. To date we have three brand new Pro Boss bosses at Millmead and we have moved the smaller and lighter A-frame stands to Millmead, where they will be much easier to take up and down the stairs than the larger and heavier H-frame stands. We have moved the H-frame stands to Ousedale and acquired two new ones. Thanks to Richard Burton and Steve Hardy for their help. I am in the process of renovating the stands with duck tape, to prevent damaged hands, and new ties which are long enough to wrap around twice to keep the frames tightly closed during storage and transport. Over the next year or so we will progressively complete the program by phasing out straw bosses and replacing the laminate ones with Pro Boss ones. These improvements will all soon be needed as we approach 100 members. We can accommodate a maximum of seven bosses at Millmead and nine at Ousedale. We tried adding a Saturday session (the only available slots) at Millmead last year, with disappointing results caused partly by administrative errors at Millmead. If there is sufficient support we will book Saturdays for the whole season next year. Please let me know if you would use a Saturday session, bearing in mind that Tuesdays and Sundays may soon run into three details. Please also remember to be considerate when there is more than one detail. In particular please don’t join an end after others have started shooting and then delay everyone else while you catch up. Reminder for scored rounds - when recording a round please follow the rules in the Operating Manual - a number of forms have been returned incomplete recently.See you in January. Ken Secretary
